The British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) is a quasi-judicial entity responsible for regulating energy utilities, ICBC's basic automobile insurance rates, intra-provincial pipelines, and the reliability of the electrical transmission grid. Following a B.C. Government-led review, the BCUC began implementing a series of changes to be more transparent and accountable in their performance, including the development of a new visual identity.
One of the key challenges was to create clarity around the BCUC's independence from the Government of British Columbia, as for years they were using the province's branding as their own. It was critical that the identity be a true expression of the BCUC's core values and represent their commitment to transparency, integrity, accessibility, responsiveness, trust, and fairness.
The solution is an identity that clearly communicates one unifying brand, presenting a strong and consistent image to the public and stakeholders.
